Listen and understand

Assess movement, strength and relevant nerve responses

Explain the plan and treat accordingly

We hear your story: how symptoms started, what affects them, and how they impact sleep, driving, desk work and activity.

We check your neck and shoulder movement, strength and relevant nerve responses where appropriate to understand limitations.

We bring findings together into a clear explanation of what is happening and agree on your next steps.

The Initial MSK Assessment is the right first booking for new Sports Therapy clients.

A plan built around your goals

Your plan may include advice, graded movement, strength work, activity modification and hands-on treatment where appropriate. The approach is tailored specifically to your goals and day-to-day demands, supporting your recovery without promising fixed outcomes.

When to seek urgent medical help

Seek urgent medical advice after a serious accident, or for sudden severe headache, fever or feeling very unwell, new or worsening weakness or numbness, difficulty with balance or coordination, or new changes to vision or speech. Use NHS 111 for urgent guidance and 999/A&E for an emergency.

Common questions

Neck and shoulder pain can relate to changes in load, prolonged positions, a recent strain or injury, joint stiffness, or irritation of nearby muscles or nerves. The assessment focuses on how your symptoms behave and which movements or tasks are limited, rather than guessing from a label alone.

Most people do not need a scan before an initial assessment. If your history or findings suggest medical review or imaging may be more appropriate, Harrison will explain the next step.

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts or a vest can help where appropriate, but the assessment can be adapted and consent and comfort come first.

This depends on the problem, your goals and how you respond. After the initial assessment Harrison will explain the recommendation clearly, without pressure to overbook.

No. Statera works with people of different ages and activity levels. The assessment is built around the movement or activity that matters to you.
