Listen and understand

Assess movement and strength

Explain the plan and treat accordingly

We hear your story: how symptoms started, what affects them, and how they impact your work, exercise and daily life.

We check how your knee, hip and surrounding areas move, and how strength and control relate to your specific goals.

We bring our findings together into a clear explanation of what is happening and the practical next steps for you.

The Initial MSK Assessment is the right first booking for new Sports Therapy clients.

A plan built around your life

Your plan is tailored to your unique goals and day-to-day demands. We focus on building capacity and confidence through practical strategies that fit your schedule.

We may include: clear advice and education to help you understand the problem; graded movement and strength work; activity modification where helpful; and hands-on treatment where appropriate.

When to seek urgent medical help

Please seek urgent medical advice via NHS 111 or your GP if you have knee pain after major trauma, cannot bear weight, have a hot red swollen joint with fever, or develop sudden severe swelling and feel generally unwell. For emergencies, call 999 or attend A&E.

Common questions

Knee pain can relate to changes in load, irritation around the kneecap or tendons, a recent injury, joint stiffness or osteoarthritis. The assessment focuses on how your symptoms behave and what your knee needs to do, rather than guessing from a label alone.

Most people do not need a scan before an initial assessment. If your history or findings suggest medical review or imaging may be more appropriate, Harrison will explain the next step.

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts or a vest can help where appropriate, but the assessment can be adapted and consent and comfort come first.

This depends on the problem, your goals and how you respond. After the initial assessment Harrison will explain the recommendation clearly, without pressure to overbook.

No. Statera works with people of different ages and activity levels. The assessment is built around the movement or activity that matters to you.
